In-Office Procedures

In-office gynecologic procedures, ranging from diagnostic evaluations to surgical treatments, allow you to receive timely care in a familiar setting. We offer a wide range of procedures in our clinic, allowing you to avoid hospital scheduling and long waits.
Our all-female OB/GYN team takes a personalized, patient-first approach, ensuring your comfort and understanding from the moment a procedure is recommended.
Diagnostic vs. Treatment Gynecological Procedures
Gynecological procedures are medical and surgical interventions performed on the female reproductive system. These procedures help diagnose conditions and guide the right treatment plan. At About Women By Women, we perform gynecological procedures onsite, so you can receive timely care without unnecessary delays. When a condition requires specialized expertise, such as cancer care, we coordinate referrals to the appropriate specialists.
Gynecological procedures can be categorized into two main types.
Diagnostic Procedures
These procedures are used to evaluate symptoms, look more closely at the uterus or cervix, and help us understand what may be causing issues like pelvic pain, irregular bleeding, or abnormal Pap results. They guide the next steps in your treatment plan.
Treatment Procedures
These procedures are used to remove, treat, or correct the underlying cause of your symptoms. They may address concerns such as polyps, cervical changes, or IUD complications, allowing you to receive effective care in a safe, familiar setting.
Diagnostic Procedures We Perform
We offer the following diagnostic procedures to help evaluate your symptoms and guide treatment.
A hysteroscopy is performed to examine the inside of the uterus to evaluate symptoms like irregular or heavy bleeding. During the procedure, a thin camera is gently passed through the cervix to visualize the uterine lining. If a polyp or other abnormality is found, we typically remove it during the same visit.
An endometrial biopsy is a quick in-office test that helps evaluate abnormal bleeding, check for infection, or rule out endometrial cancer. A small sample of the uterine lining is collected and sent to the lab for analysis. A pregnancy test is required beforehand to ensure the procedure is safe to perform.
A colposcopy is performed after an abnormal Pap to examine the cervix and identify areas that may need biopsy or treatment.
Treatment Procedures We Perform

We offer several in-office procedures to treat the conditions causing your symptoms, allowing you to receive effective care without delays. Our team uses anesthesia when appropriate to minimize discomfort and support a safe, comfortable procedure experience.

What to Expect During Your Procedure
Before your procedure begins, our providers explain why it’s recommended, what it can help clarify or treat, and what you can expect at every step. Our multilingual team can review this information in a language you prefer, ensuring that everything is clear and understandable.
Many procedures include local anesthesia options to reduce discomfort. Our experienced OB/GYN team checks in with you often to ensure you feel comfortable and supported throughout the process.
Most in-office procedures are completed in a single visit. After the procedure, our provider will explain what recovery typically looks like, how you may feel over the next day or two, and when you can safely return to your normal activities. You’ll also receive clear instructions for follow-up and the contact information to call if any questions arise afterward.
When You May Need a Procedure
Our team may recommend an in-office procedure when symptoms or test results indicate that a closer examination or targeted treatment is necessary. A procedure can help provide answers, relieve symptoms, or address the underlying cause of a concern.
You may need a procedure if you’re experiencing:
- Persistent pelvic pain
- Irregular, heavy, or unexpected bleeding
- An abnormal Pap result
- IUD concerns, such as lost strings or discomfort
- Suspected fibroids or polyps
- Symptoms not improving with medication
- Findings on an ultrasound or lab test that need further evaluation
Our team will discuss why a procedure is recommended, what it can help clarify or treat, and what you can expect at every step.

Procedures Related to Contraceptive Care
We offer in-office contraceptive procedures to place or remove an IUD or Nexplanon. Our team explains each step clearly and uses comfort measures to ensure a calm and supportive experience.
IUDs are placed or removed during a short office visit. Insertion involves placing a small, T-shaped device into the uterus to provide long-acting birth control. Removal is usually quick and simple and may involve hysteroscopic removal.
Nexplanon is a small implant placed under the skin of the upper arm. We offer both insertion and removal in the office. The area is numbed first, and the procedure is quick, with minimal downtime afterward.
